DUB STYLE!

So I got a dod fx25 pedal, and I like it a lot. But I keep using it with the sensitivity knob all the way down to get that dub/reggae tone (like Slightly Stoopid/Sublime's bass in some of their songs).

right now I'm just using it as an on/off pedal and I can just get one dub tone out of it. So my question is, are there any other more versatile pedals that are used to get more dub sounds?

most envelope filter will be able to get different kinds of low pass filtering depending on their control over your signal.

its adjusting the knobs where the magic begins, sometimes a half of a half of a millimeter will get the right sound. it takes some tinkering around to find out what a pedal can do.

also playing style. these pedals are very sensitive to where you pluck on your sting and how hard and kind of strings and and.....just try different things, you will see. there are many many sounds in there, just gotta coax them out.

Too bad all of the recommended pedals are outside my price range. I guess the fx25 will do for now

Zoom recorder cuts out bit of the lowest frequencies, but you get the idea

you may want to try the Music Eleectronix Submarine:

http://musicelectronix.com/bass-pedals/submarine

This is an simply yet very effective tone control...2 knobs, volume and tone...the tone control is kind of like a filter with pretty low resonance...turn it all the way down and it will cut out all the high end and give you that nice dubby reggae sound you are looking for. Turning it up progressively adds high end, nice if want a real up front slap sound...also cuts out a little mid range as well.

I have the old version which was $80 shipped...they updated it and its a little bit more expensive but has an additional bass boost i belive. This is a great preamp tone pedal, i always leave it on, its my main tone and volume control. Really adds some smoothness to your tone as well...just an awesome pedal for the price, one of my favorite buys for sure

It's my signature post it's the predicability of it's failure that makes it what it is...

Agree; I'm just learning mine but it has a great filter sound and the Feedback knob dials the Sound of the envolope out. Lots of great static super deep tones with the right settings and touch.

rotosound TruBass 88 strings are cheaper than a pedal.
