Hell yes.

Nice.

I've also been really interested in/working on doing some live dubstep. I've followed the few threads on TB about it, but there hasn't been anything in a while.

GT10B or otherwise, I'm keen to hear what peeps be saying about the best way to get some meaty, dirty, bass wobble going on.

I've messed around with running through a PC, and it does work (using Massive, in particular), but I'd love to have the capability in a pedal.

OP (or anyone else interested), if you haven't yet read these threads, here:

who actually makes dubstep with a band?

That Dubstep Wobbbbbbbbble.

Electronic/Synth/Experimental Bassists Club

I hope this thread gets some action - but it doesn't seem like a very popular topic on TB.

quite odd, seeing the massive explosion in dubstep in the last few months

but I am just curious into getting that sound out of a bass, you always see DJ's doing it, and it would be totally awesome to play it on a bass

maybe with the expression pedal?

kdiggity provided links which discuss this extensively and tell you how you can get close, but hardly perfect, dubstep sounds on bass guitar with a huge amount of effort, as well as how some pedals that do the trick MIGHT be available by Christmas.

In short: dubstep wobble bass is an effect that was invented on synthesizers and involves filters as well as other effects that are synchronized to the BPM of a track and the subjected to changes in tempo ratio. It's gonna require a LOT of live expression pedal manipulation even once you get a workable effect set up. Got a headache yet?

I'm no expert but I've never been able to get anything resembling dubstep tones out of the GT10B by using JUST the GT10B. There's no effects avaialble resembling the deep, thick filtering you need. Even the included synth effect is weak in that regard, it's not deep and thick enough. I found you can sort of use the UNIV to give a somewhat LFO filter sound, but it's certainly not deep and thick enough, I'd classify it as "better than nothing".

I'm sure you can use the GT-10B in conjunction with another filter product to help you. Stick a MOOG LPF in the effects loop and you can insert it anywhere in the GT10B signal chain. Push some distorted synth tones into it, some chorus/delay/verb/whatever after it, and you should be on the right path.

Note there's a huge ongoing GT10B thread that would be a better place to post this type of thing.
