I have a $75 gift card to GC- was given as a gift.
I've decided on buying a delay pedal... I'm playing in a dance/rock improv band- think disco biscuits, new deal, phish, umphreys mcgee- etc.
Ive done searches the past few days but havent seen any posts that deal with these factors specifically
-essentially i want something i can use on the fly, tempo isnt always the same in jams- so I want something with an easy to use tap tempo function (IE not having to hold down the pedal for 2 seconds before being able to tap) & Easy to change the
-length time/rate of the delay
-the depth
-the resonance
based on whats availible @ gc I think I've narrowed my options to the Line 6 Echo Park OR the TC Electronic Nova repeater.
Ive read that the echo park can be somewhat noisey- and neither of them are true bypass so i'm expecting some tone suck.
Any opinions? Thoughts? Advice?
Oh & btw I know a lot of you love the SMMH BUT thats slightly out of my price range. Keep in mind i have a free $75 to GC- if i put $75 in myself i get the echo park, @ $95 the repeater. I dont really want to put $150 in myself for an effect i dont forsee being a key factor in "my sound" + the pedal is pretty big... |

I would go for the Nova if money's an issue.
There aren't a lot of options w/ decent tap tempo for your price range.
Any reason you aren't looking into the Boss pedals and picking up a footswitch for tap tempo? |

OH and I know GC will price match anyone as long as they are an authorized dealer (not sure how to find out who is). So you could search the web for the lowest price and bring in a print out to them. I just found one for 110. It's out of stock, but don't know if that really matters much. |

I'm curious as to which Boss delays have TT- specifically, externally-footswitchable/controllable. I'm after pretty much the same thing.

ARGH why is purchasing gear always such a hard decision :/ |

Aside from that it is a great pedal & perhaps worth the money for the OP's application. I would suggest you demo one in a store & attempt to do everything you want from it before buying.
rratajski, no other single-spaced Boss pedal does ext TT? I ask because there's always a used DD5, 6, etc FS here & there- I'm a cheap bastid.

Not sure about the OP's other requirements.

There are other pedals w/ external tap, but all are over $250/300 AFAIK.
Basically, you can get cheap delay that has tap tempo and get cheap results (breaks easily/fails, etc.) or spend a little more and get something "decent."
OR OR OR spend your GC $ on strings, picks, etc. and look in TB's classifieds frequenltly or e(vil)Bay for a cheaper DD-7/footswitch or an Akai Headrush used.
Buy used, save money.

My bud may want an analog model/mode as well, which seems to not be on the DD5..?

Tap tempo, wide choice of time signatures and delay types, chorus/vibrato modulation, tone control of the repeats, trails, and of course the usual controls, all in a relatively small pedal (for one with tap tempo) that's not too expensive.
I found it easy to use and great sounding. The basic digital "studio" delay is perfect, and while the analog and tape simulations of course don't sound really like the real thing, they are really not too bad, certainly when combined with a good dose of the modulation.
For me it's a definite keeper!
