Dunlop 105Q cold cathode instructions

I just posted this up on HCBF because a couple people thought my light up wah pedal was cool. It's pretty straight forward, but I thought a few of you might think it would be a fun project to do.

Here are the lights. Comes with two 4" lights.
http://www.xoxide.com/4in-blue-cold-cathode-kit.html and
http://www.xoxide.com/cocasoackit.html (optional, if you want them to be sound reactive)

I sanded the blocks on the edges down as little as possible, or else the wah won't depress all the way. Find and electric sander or you will be working for awhile. Then just JB Weld the cathodes in place and they are not moving ... ever. Don't waste your time with the velcro they come with, they'll just come undone every time you press down.

It's easy after that, all you need it an old computer power supply and some time.

I cut the big connector off and taped all the wires back nice and neat, nothing can touch accidentally. Then I soldered an orange wire to a red wire and a green wire to a black wire. Then tucked and zip tied one strand of connectors in there. And the things starts right up. I'm also going to go buy a blue LED fan to put in the power supply (yes, it's worth over doing).

Here's a picture in the light, just so you can see everything. You don't even have to drill any holes in the wah. Just take the battery cover off and run them through there.

And here's another picture, so you can where the wires from the lights fit through into the wah.

I really hope someone does this, so this post isn't a total waste.

Interesting idea, and while I don't think I'll put the lights in a wah pedal, I wouldn't mind mounting them under the tiers of my board to light the thing up. Does it add any noise to the signal?

Cool. I found this just after I finished tearing the hell out of the power supply. I was just too cheap to buy it.

If I ever buy a Pedaltrain, I'm mounting some 15" ones on the top and bottom slats, along with some blue feet. It should glow like the sun. No extra noise from the lights.
