dunlop 105Q, leaving in an open position while playing?

Sign in to disble this ad
hey,

last nite i opened up for this band, and the bassplayer was running an octave pedal into a 105q. i use an octave pedal now and love it and was wondering if people out there had experience with the 105 q....

i understand it is spring loaded, so does that mean i cant leave it in an open setting and just play? that is something i want, i use an envelope filter now and like it, but would like something where i can control my sweep with my foot as i play and would like to put the pedal in one position adn jam with it staying there, is that possible with the 105 q if i take my foot off the pedal?

ill be running an octave multiplexer into it at times as well

thanks

That's exactly what it means. It's one of the things I don't like about spring-loaded pedals. My Morley is spring-loaded, and I can't stand it - the spring-loadedness, not the sound.

To my knowledge, there is no solution to this, other than maybe the Snarling Dogs Bootzilla wah, which I hear has a crazy amount of quality control issues. I could be wrong, however, and I'm kind of hoping that I am.

There was a wah comparison thread recently which raved about the lesser known Wilson wah, not sure if it's spring loaded though... but what's stopping you taking a screqwdriver to it and removing the spring?

Can't you take the pedal apart and remove the spring? Can't be difficult.

Taking the spring out means the pedal falls down to the toe down position every time.

I'm in the process of modding mine for true bypass. I've removed the spring but I'm going to figure out a way of making it stay where I leave it.

I'll post pics and details on the mod when I'm done.
