Dunlop 18V adapter high pitched sound

Sign in to disble this ad
I got a Dunlop ECB004 18V adapter for my Blow Torch and it makes a high pitched whizz sound when I plug it in. It works fine otherwise. When I unplug it, the sound slows down, almost sounds like little motor shutting down to a halt. Should I be worried?

I would suggest that while the adapter is supplying the right voltage it does not allow enough 'mah'/draw of current through - something I have experienced with a few adapters. If I recall, the Blow Torch is quite demanding power wise as far as fuzz pedals are concerned.

I used to use a Diago 18v adapter with my old Blow Torch and that worked perfectly.

It's the official adapter recommended in the manual to use with blowtorch. It's 1A which is plenty enough. And the noise comes from the adapter whether or not I plug it into blowtorch - as soon it's in the socket.

I've experienced the same thing with my Aguilar 18 v adapter for my Tone Hammer. The noise almost disappears when I engage the pedal though. Very strange.

Does your noise come from the speaker box or the adapter itself? Mine comes from the adapter.

If it comes from the adapter, is probably nothing to worry about... I have had the same experience with other switching power supplies .

Now I feel less worried
I was thinking it might be dying capacitors or resistors or something being faulty.

It comes from the adapter too. So it's not really much of an issue to me but it's a bit annoying when playing at home.
