Dunlop unleashes the Fullbore Metal Distortion pedal

Sign in to disble this ad
"Hey all you metal heads! The first reviews for our new MXR Fullbore Metal Distortion pedal are out. This compact but powerful device is all you need to unleash the most devastating contemporary metal guitar tones ever heard. The FullBore pedal turbo-charges your guitar signal with lethal amounts of ultra high gain. This is combined with a built-in Noise Gate to knock out the noise associated with extreme gain levels while also adding definition and tightness to syncopated metal riffs. Extensive EQ controls, with Bass, Mid, sweepable Mid-Freq and Treble knobs let you sculpt your tone with fiendish precision. The additional Scoop switch provides an instant high and low frequency boost that’ll rumble the room while also adding clarity.

Check it out below, another killer review from proguitarshop.com."

Look, another mid-scooping, artificial sounding screechbox that 12-year-olds will try out at ear splitting volumes through Line 6 Spiders at Guitar Center. Just what the world needs.

The only settings I found remotely interesting were where the gain knob was below 9 o'clock. Beyond that, it's congested, midless madness that just doesn't sound good.

Too many sweeties and the High School Musical soundtrack have put me in a strange mood...

EDIT: And an entire day transcribing Muse songs...

i couldn't watch anymore after the dude started playing what i am guessing was "Walk" by Pantera hahaha i couldn't listen to any more after the first du-nuuuuh nuuh.... haha that's the EXACT riff i was thinking of when bassman1185 mentioned 12 year olds in guitar center...

hahaha i haven't laughed this much in a while.

I dunno... it IS a lotta knobs. I also dont like the AC adapter location, that's mess with 'L' shaped cables.

I've been searching for a small form factor, good sounding, and well gated distortion. The gate on this one seems seriously tight. Tons of EQ with scoop. Seems flexible for what it's supposed to do. I have a Metal Zone I use with my bass and it sounds good, but has a seriously high noise floor so without added gate it's, well, noisey.

I think this pedal is not as good as the tech 21 XXL B

I thought it sounded decent for a guitar distortion, and the built-in gate is a nice feature.

Actually it doesn't sound bad in the clip especially when they boosted the mids at the end. I am interested in how it would sound on bass, but fear it might be a little muddy on the lows based on how it sounded on guitar in the demo.
