I have a boss gt-6b effects board and I want to use a set of ear buds when I play through a mixer board. When the board is muted the buds work, but when it it active it does not. What can I do to get them to work all of the time?

Do you mean when the mixer is muted? If so, it's probably a feature of the particular mixer.

Can you provide more details please? I assume your earbuds are recieving a mix from an Aux send on the board, is this this correct? Did you actually mean that you hear nothing when the board is muted, like ga_edwards said? Are you receiving anything in your earbud mix other than bass? Are we talking about a situation with one specific board at a practice space or resident venue? Are your earbuds wireless?

Before you answer any of these questions I can tell you this, if you are in fact getting your mix from an Aux send on just about any standard mixing console, muting the channel(s) will mute that Aux as well. There's no way around this. If you answer some of my other questions, I maybe able to suggest a solution.
