Early Xmas Gift - New Bass Rack..But I really need your help

Sign in to disble this ad
Ok, here's the deal..this is my first post, i hope im posting in the right section.I tried searching, found nothing so hopefully your reading this and can help me..i just got a SKB 6u roto rack..insides lies the following from bottom to top: SWR Working Pro 700 Bass Amp,SWR Ru2n Chromatic Tuner - Sansamp RBI,Furman Power condition, Empty unit....
1.ok the problems..i dont know if i have everything connected right, I suck and very new at this.

2.I'M tuned to drop C and I'm constantly clipping( not the pre amp)every stroke on c string lights up and stays on, I'm worried i could be damaging the amp.

3.I'm having problems with being able to get decent volume without it turning muddy also ,played a show yesterday and was getting feedback like whoa..I'm kinda bumming cause I've always wanted a SWR WP700 and I've heard sweet things about the Sansamp RBI but now I'm questioning if i made the right move in getting one..but then a gain i could have it connected wrong..i play in a hardcore/metal band so i was trying to get a nice chunky over-driven tube tone but so far no luck.. Can you help..enclosed also is a picture of the rear of my rack ..I currently have ONE wire going from the sansamp input to the WP700 effect send, and another wire going from the WP700 effects return to the sansamp's effect send.

O ya one more thing..I also have a wireless syestem..could i just connect it to the input in front of the amp? or is there a way i can connect it in the rear and keep the wires hidden?

i say run the RBI before the amp and use the tuner out from the SWR to go to the tuner, or if you just wanted the RBI tone then you could run bass to RBI then the output of that into the effects return of your amp which will bypass your amps preamp just using the power amp.

hope this helps

there are a few ways to wire this... if you want to use the mute function, go tuner 1st; otherwise, hook it up via the tuner out on the 700 pro.
experiment w/ the sansamp into the 700 pro, and in the effects loop of the 700 pro.
i am not familiar w/ the 700 pro, but here are a few guesses:
1- there is an issue w/ amp-cab (what kind of cab)
2- you are boosting the sansamp too much causing too hot of a signal into the 700 pro (does the 700 clip w/out the sansamp?). the samsamp should be used as an effect, not a volume booster.
3- too much bass boost
