Easy Build

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey

I'm looking into building an effects pedal, but I'm not sure what to build. Could someone link me to a good, but easy schematic to build? I'm not into buying a kit, I have access to a lot of electronics components, and I know how to read schematics.

Bazz Fuss: http://www.home-wrecker.com/bazz.html or an original Fuzz Face: http://fuzzcentral.ssguitar.com/fuzzface.php

Even if you don't want to buy their kits, I would still start out at the GGG and BYOC websites to get their schematics. The instruction manuals for all of their kits have the schematics in them. And they have a lot of the good basic circuits there (muff, fuzz face, superfuzz, phase 90, etc)

I'm interested in this as well, so I think I'll subscribe to this thread. I'm planning on making a Bazz Fuss as my first build. If you do one too, shoot me a PM and we can compare results.

Cool, Thanks. I'm probably gonna try to build the Bazz Fuzz V1. One question though, I'm not sure how to hook up the input/output jack to that. Would the trace with the downwards pointing arrow coming off the negative side of the battery be the sleeve, and the upwards pointing arrow coming off the cap be the tip? And how would the output work? Would the tip be the lead coming off the center of the pot, then send the sleeve to ground? And what are those squares on the jacks...and how do they get grounded...

Sorry, I'm sure these are pretty basic questions..

For all that, the tech pages of Beavis Audio is your friend: http://www.beavisaudio.com/techpages/

They also have a LPB-1 schematic on there. That would be a good first build as well. If you can get a quality germanium transistor than building a Cream Pie boost/overdrive would also be a good build.

Thanks, that helped. I think I'll bookmark that site for later use as well. One final thing though, would I be correct in assuming that both inputs on the Bazz Fuzz will go to the tip?

You are correct sir. Sleeve would be connected to the grounds.

What do mean "both inputs"? There's only one input for the circuit and that comes from tip of the input jack. On a stereo jack, you don't need to use the ring unless you're using a stereo signal or a battery. The Beavis Audio site will explain with diagrams.
