Question Which EB volume pedal?

Sign in to disble this ad
OK, please don't kill me if it is answered before.
I hear only good things about Ernie Ball Volume pedals. But I'm not sure which one should I get.
If I play a passive bass but connect them to a lot of effect pedals (booster and distortion etc.), should I get the one for passive instruments or the one for active instruments?
And I have passive basses as well as active basses. If I buy the one for active instrument, may I be able to use with passive basses. And vice versa?

Depends on where you have it placed in the chain. I have used both with both passive and active basses. If you're going into the volume pedal and then to the rest of your effects, get the 250k. I didn't notice much difference when the active was plugged straight in this way. However, if you want the volume pedal to be somewhere in the middle or at the end of your effects chain, get the 25k. This is currently what I use as my EBVP sits almost at the end of my chain, just before my delay.

Does the placement effect the signal chain or the performance of the volume pedal itself. I have the 250K and it is the second pedal in my chain,...after the OC-2. my only beef with it is I wish the volume sweep was a little more even. Note that I've tried it with the internal switch in both positions.

Yeah, the sweep gets wacky if you've got a 250k and are feeding it an active-like signal.

Thanks for the replies. I think I'll buy a 25k
