Question EBS Bass IQ Settings/Thoughts

Sign in to disble this ad
I recently purchased a used EBS Bass IQ, it is neat sounding, but i have noticed the controls are very sensitive. This is the one with the 1 internal trim pot, not the 3)

i prefer the up mode and i am wondering if everytime i use it in a new environment (basically only master volume changes or EQ at the amp), i will have to change the settings.

I was using a Bass Balls and I like how the EBS holds onto the bottom end, but I find it a bit difficult.

HELP!!

Yes it is sensitive. I usually use the Hi-Q mode with Threshold at 14:00 and Attack at 8:00, but I adjust that setting before gig or rehearsal according to the particular bass signal power.

It also behave differently when you adjust your bass onboard preamp e.g. adding the bass - it changes the power of signal and the filter opens differently. The best is to double check the setting before the song to check if it provides the right quack.

Another nice setting is Up mode with both knobs at about 15:00. It gives nice thumpy loooong sweep.
Try to put a buzzy synth or fuzz before the BassIQ with this setting

thanks for the tip, but what exactly is 15:00, is that the same as 3:00?

15:00 = 3:00 PM

But take these values as rough ballpark, according to your bass it can be different by as much as "hour" or two.
