Guys
Just got the above and really like it compared to my EH Mini Q-Tron.
Just wondering what settings people use with the trim pot inside. I have turned it all the way round but i cant hear a difference. so far only used headphones with my PC though. first gig this weekend.
Cant believe how heavy it is.
Thanks for any tips.

| | | | If I remember correctly, the internal trimpot is used for mixing in some of the clean high frequency content from your bass signal. I would expect, if you have a growly clean bass tone for example, that this might make the filter sound a little growlier or dirtier. |

Its probably down t me just using headphones of the PC. I just wondered if there is a setting that most people use to get the best out of it.
Ill have a mess around at the next gig. Im sure ill hear the change better.

| | | | It sounds like it must be a subtle difference. I used to own a BassIQ and personally I just left the trimpot at the factory setting as I was happy with the filter's sound the way it was. But that's me. |

I would have thought that 100% is best but i have heard others saying that it should be on the outside to make it easier to change and that its really a third knob so i figured it must get used for something.

You'll notice the effect more if you force the filter to it's most muffled setting by turning the threshold all the way down. Turning the trimpot should now allow you to hear more clean high frequencies coming through despite the filter being fully closed.

After a few hours playing with the IQ i do like it but cant see much use for the attack either. I just kept it on or near full (quickest) and it gives me the tone i want.
It will certainly replace my Q-Tron.

Likewise ... you're not going to use "down" every day. But if you experiment with some of those abnormal settings, it can actually inspire you to play strange and new things ...
try setting the attack so long that it takes 6 midtempo 16th notes to open it up, then play 8 note phrases with a little break at the end of each to get the filter to fall back to closed. |

The thing is im only playing covers so i cant experiment too much but it would be nice to add a bit of funk to a few of our songs.

| | | | I've used a slow attack for some trippy sustained notes on some psychedelic jam sections of songs, kind of like a synth. |

I do the same thing and in that setting I use a fairly short attack (not all the way down though ... you gotta let it breathe a little) and use the high-Q mode for maximum grease.
Its a whole lot of fun to mess with at home and just dream up weird sounds. I was running distortion and octave in front of it this week with the attack all the way down and the threshold firing hard ... got this crazy percussive click on the front of each note, so I was getting crazy with some ghost notes and playing what was essentially a synth drum sound.
I love this pedal! |

I do prefer mine at 0% Quote:
