Talking EBS multi-comp vs Analogman Compressor

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey people

I am shopping around for a bass compressor pedal (not rack mount).

From what I have read, I am keen on either the EBS multi-comp or Analogman compressor (or possibly bi-compressor)

I'll be posting the pedal to a mate in the states, and will get it through him (I live in South Africa), so i will not have the option to test the pedal before buying. Hence, i'd like some real good advice.

What are your thoughts on the multi-com vs analogman?
Do you have any other suggestions or advice?

Bring it on....

Cool

Thanks wazzel. Thats quite a comprehensive site. Awesome!

So the multi-comp seems to be winning. I also think i should do some more research on the demeter compulator. Any other suggestions welcome!

I played both the EHX soul preacher and the Keeley compressor this week. They were great on the upper register stuff, but found them to be really lacking on the lower end stuff. The got muddy and lost some volume. Which I think is the same review Bongo gave them in the list I posted.

The EBS is highly, highly regarded. It's $200 USD new though.

That's why I opted out for a used BBE Opto Stomp.

I have the demeter compulator, I like it a lot. I've found that I need to roll the volume knob on my MIA Jazz Deluxe to about halfway to avoid clipping it, but if I do that and just crank the volume on the compulator it works great. I came into a rackmount dbx 160xt and desperately wanted to like it over the compulator (I keep the comp on all the time so a rack unit would be nice). I just couldn't, the compulator sounds too good. It just makes everything sound better. I haven't had the chance to compare it to an EBS.
