EBS Octabass mod by mistake

I just bought an OctaBass and tried it out when I got home. It wasn't octaving right. Instead of a lower octave, it was just making the current note fatter and synthy. Not quite right, but really cool. Then I realized that I forgot to plug in the pedal with my OneSpot and was using the battery that it came with. Plugged it in and everything is working fine. Octaves as normal. Unplugged it and it's back to the phat synth sound.

I checked the voltage on the battery using my batt-o-meter and it read 7.98 and 8.04 V on two different readings. So if you have an old battery or the Sag function on a PedalPower or similar, definitely give it a try.

Did it "track" well? Like when you hit an open E it was the equivalent of playing 7th fret of the A string with normal powering?

Yeah, it tracked well. Even down to low B which was odd.

So you could put a resistor and switch in the circuit, and get that effect even withf a new battery.

Not that odd - since you said it's not putting out an octave, just "making the current note fat and synthy"...

The Octabass does a pretty good job tracking the low notes. I get usable sounds out of the B string. Most likely a high pass filter in there somewhere, but that's better than garbage.

I had an older model of the OctaBass awhile ago and just bought this one on a whim. Really happy with it. It's going to pull the OC-2 off the board.
