Is anybody familiar with the EBS OctaBass Pedal? They claim fast tracking and recognition of 2 and 3 note chords. I have heard that its a good pedal - can anyone confirm this that actually owns one or has owned one?
ALSO - does it track the lower register or does it cut out or flip out? Does it actually project a note throughout the whole spectrum?
Thanks all!

1) SLightly bertter tracking than the other analog octaves I'd played
2)marginaly chordal ability... not like a POG, but didn't flip out either.
3)still didn't go really low... didn't totally shut down, but not brutal glitchy stuff like an OC2 (which can actually be fun if you expect it)
I dunno... thats all for now... |

I think I've still got it packed away somewhere, but I pretty much gave up on effects several years ago. Anyway, back when I used it I was very satisfied with how it performed. I remember it tracked single notes very well, and I vaguely recall that it could track 2-note chords OK but was a little more likely to glitch in that situation. On low notes I found it could reliably track down to the low G (E string 3rd fret). But that's around 23 Hz for the sub-octave, I think. I generally stayed in a bit higher register when I used it.
Dang... I may have to dig that thing up and mess with it again. :-)

No wierd power issues, and allegedly tracks flawlessly (the first pog did and I've never read otherwise about the micro).
I was thinking about it today, and if I get another octaver, I'm going with the micro pog too... |

The EBS Octa pedal to me is one of the cleanest Ocatve pedals I have ever come across. It tracks very well and seems to be more versatile than most Octive pedals for bass that I have come across, as far as two, three notes or more it seems to be able to hang but it's ability to do what one is looking for overall has a lot to do with how light their string gauges are.
One thing for me that really separates it from the Micro POG is that I can slap, pluck and tap while using the EBS Octave pedal and it still sounds clean and even but when I utilize the same techniques while using the Micro POG it's just not as clean.
I endorse EBS and EH and I actually like their product and would use the products from these two companies if I wasn't an endorser. |

| | | | OK I have one. I play only 5er's, and I don't think you really gain anything if you play a five. I does well from the D string up. It also needs a stout input signal. For me, it works best from the middle of the neck up. Also, I feel like it gets a little confused when you play double stops, it is supposed to only track the lowest note played, but I found it does not like chords all that much. Single note solo lines work great. I have not used mine out playing yet, probably won't.

It can track more than one note, but you really have to "finesse" it. In my experience the Octabass works best for single notes down to the note "B" on the A-string. Anything lower gets a little sketchy.
Jauqo has it right - the EBS is clean. Ultra - clean. |

I don't get any glitches down til A, but any lower is not usuable. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
