ebs UniChorus ac-in problem

Sign in to disble this ad
I just brought a EBS UniChorus today git it home fitted it into my pedal board... but when i plugged in to see what this puppy could do i got an awefull hum/buzz through me and whenever i turned the pedal on so i thought bad plug so i pluged a different ac plug from my chain into the pedal but the same thing happened...

Is this because the power adapter im using is'nt and ebs power adapter or is the pedal broken and should i get it swaped over?

What power supplies are you using? Can you tell us the make/model? If they're generic, can you tell us the mA rating and whether they put out AC or DC, as well as the polarity of the plug?

Have you tried it with a battery?

If you are truly trying to run the pedal off AC that could be a problem. Should be 9V DC. Typical "Boss" type adapter/polarity.

In that case mate, it's probably a problem w/the pedal. It'd try a 9v battery as a last attempt and if it's still wanked, exchange it.

Then you've answered your own question.

If the power supply works with the octabass then you know both of those are ok. If the unichorus works with batteries, but not with the known, working power supply, then the fault is likely to be with the unichorus.

But, you're posts are very difficult to read and I'm wondering what you mean by this:

Do you mean the hum/buzz isn't there until you engage the effect with the footswitch?

as soon as i plug the adapter in there is a slight hum... But when i click the pedal on thats where you can really hear it, it drowns out the effect completly

Right, so you are daisy chaining the power from other pedals? Does anything change if you remove the other pedals from the daisy chain?

Yes even when its the only pedal being powered by the power supply it still seems to hum...

Then I'd be taking it back and demanding a refund or replacement. At very least, they will test it in the store and you can confirm or deny your conclusion. Probably a good idea to take the power supply you're using as well.
