EBS valvedrive issue

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi, I bought my valvedrive two months ago, it was almost new with the tube replaced by the previous owner to a Vox. It sounds awesome, but sometimes, it just quits working. When I switch it off and wait a few seconds it's working again. Is it the tube or soldering? Or shall I just bring it to the service? But 98% of time it's working properly, so tmaybe they will not find anything when it's there.
Thanks,
Peter

I suspect there is a bad "cold" solder joint somewhere, maybe connected to the power supply. It doesn't sound like a tube fault. But you may be able to find a replacement tube fairly cheaply (I'm not sure what the market is like in Hungary, but there are a lot of Soviet tubes in the eastern EU). I would try swapping a new tube in first, as that can sometimes be fairly cheap and easy- if that doesn't solve it, then I'd bring it to a repair person.

Thanks Bongomania,
It's not the failure of the power supply, as the power stays on, only it gets quiet during driven mode sometimes, but when I switch off the drive and switch it back, it's working again. It only happens very rarely. Anyway, I will try to put a new valve, at least I will have a backup.

I heard that's a common problem with that pedal. I tried one at a used shop and I really liked it, but the guy told me something was wrong with it, that it was cutting out periodically. He told me he'd call me when it was fixed but he never called. If you bring it in to a good shop and tell them what's going on they should be able to figure it out. I doubt that it's a major problem.
