EBS Valvedrive vs. Multidrive

I tried the EBS Multidrive yesterday and liked it a lot. However, I suspect the Valvedrive would be even better, but I haven't gotten the chance to try one.

Anybody compared the two side-by-side?

You definately get more for your money with the Mutidrive, but I prefer the tone of the one trick pony Valve Drive.

I'd love to try the ValveDrive. I have the MultiDrive and like everything about it except for the lack of a tone control of any sort.

If you're just looking to add some grit to your existing tone, then the Multidrive is the way to go. The Valvedrive is more of a pre-amp and colours your tone.

I went ahead and bought the valve drive, and I couldn't be happier. Great overdriven tone, as much fuzz as I want, doesn't suck out the bass. What a great pedal!! The vintage and modern modes provide two different flavors of overdriven bliss. The EQ points are well chosen, and it's very useful.

The only downsides:

1) 12v power supply. I'm not much of a pedal board guy, but that could be a deal killer for people who want everything to run off a power block with 9v outlets.
2) It's expensive. If the valve drive was $200, they would be insanely popular among bassists. $300 is a lot for a pedal though. Since I don't have many pedals, I went ahead and splurged, but I could see others balking at the high price.
3) It's a little big, and the amber light under the tube (provides a fake tube glow) is cheesy.

Otherwise, it's fantastic, and it's very well made.

Bumping this dormant thread for more one-on-one comparisons between the EBS MultiDrive and the EBS ValveDrive...
