I was listening to the song " Give it Everything You Got"
with George Sheck on bass. At the 1:45+ mark he plays some heavy sounding bass lines.. Any one have an idea
how he was getting this sound ?

I always figured it was recorded with an amp pushed past it's limits. Also, that was 1970. Recording was still fairly primitive compared to today. (Jeez, 40 years ago!! How time flies!)

Great band! I've played on some gigs and recordings with Jon Smith (sax) over the years.
Jerry LaCroix was still doin' it down in South Louisiana and Texas, last I heard.

Great band, Great record. Also Roadwork with Randy Jo Hobbs on bass.

To paraphrase Dr. John, "how could they be so white, and so foonky!"

Randy Jo Hobbs, was a great 70's Bass Player. RIP.
Seen Randy with White Trash, and Johnny Winter.
Kicked Ass every time.

I don't know what the original bassist had; but when I saw Randy Jo Hobbs with White Trash in concert he had a honking Ampeg SVT. He also had a beat looking 60's jazz bass, suspenders, a top hat and a lightning bolt tattoed across his right hand. He tried a 70's (new at the time!) Jazz for a song and went back to older bass. These guys really played for keeps!
