Eek! I fried my Bassweet

Sign in to disble this ad
reorganizing my board yesterday, i may have activated my Frantone Bassweet while it was briefly (and mistakenly) plugged into an 18V power supply. Big surprise - it's not working anymore. The LED comes on whenever it is plugged in, and signal still passes through, but the fuzz doesn't engage

What's the verdict, builders? Did I destroy this out-of-prouction pedal, or is it somehow salvageable?

Yes, I've contacted Fran for advice. Waiting to hear back.

Not feeling too happy this morning!

Oh noes! Sorry, I have nothing helpful to say, just giving my sympathies. Hope you figure out a way to unfry it.

Have you tried running it with a battery? My old guitar player fried one of his pedals with the wrong power supply but it still functioned running off a 9V meaning he fried the AC input but apparently not the circuit itself.

good news everybody! I heard back from Fran, and the pedal is built with a voltage limiter so the PCB should be fine... I'll bypass the AC tonight and give it another try

That is good news! The Bassweet is one of my favorites, I'd hate to see one die.
