Which effect is the bassist using here?

Please have mercy on an old fart without effects experience and let me know which effects the bassist in this clip (Neil Jason) is using to achieve his sound. Thanks!

I don't really hear any effects, just a fretless bass

uhhh, did you listen to the whole thing bear?
Sounds like an envelop filter for sure during one part.

So far, so good. What are some examples of "envelope filters?"

Smokin tune! I'm hearing some light chorus, overdrive for some parts (maybe), and definitely some envelope filter in the solo. Very tight band, so energetic!

I had such a hard time learning this tune. Very difficult bass part.
I don't know what effects the guy used. I play it with chorus from the 2nd verse and a Bassballs for the solo. It sounds pretty close to the original.

Sounds like a light doubling, not quite a chorus is used. Maybe an octaver of some type?

The bass solo starts at 6:30

Envelope filter used through out in places and from the beginning of the solo. The 'chorus' he uses sounds like Jaco chorus to me, and given the time period, I'm thinking it's an MXR Digital Delay doing the chorus work. The overdrive is probably his amp Im guessing... and I don't hear any octaver- I think the doubling Mutt is referring to is the digi delay. That my best guess anyway.

edit- derr--- here's the link to the other video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J93fSpAmzMU

Here's another video of them playing in Norway the same year- you can hear the bass player really playing the sh.t out of an envelope filter around the 6min mark during his solo. I was thinking FX25 but they weren't out for another year or two after... Sounds good whatever it is.

There weren't many envelope filters on the market back then. I'd guess it's a mutron, or possibly an mxr. Will Lee was playing a lot of envelope filter around that time as well, and Neil was basically Will's main sub.

The distortion near the end is not from the amp.

I'm thinking something like a MXR Distortion +
