effect for MM sound

Hi,
I'm one of those bass players who never uses effects, but I like some more bass sound when I'm slapping. Like Marcus Millers sound.
What do you advise me?
thanx, Sophie

"More bass sound" = EQ. Of course your amp and speakers have to not suck.

Marcus uses and EBS octaver plus many other effects from time to time. The octaver will give you more bass when you are slapping etc...

Do you mean for his clean sound or his effects? Marcus Miller does use a lot of effects. I think you mean his clean sound, and for that he has his Jazz Bass, which is vital for the Marcus Miller tone, with a Sadowsky Preamp. He also uses, I believe I read, and Empirical Labs Distressor Compressor, which is extremely expensive.

The best effect for an MM sound is to use an MM bass.

Hmm... somehow "Slappers Anonymous" just doesn't sound right.
