Sign in to disble this ad
Hello. I'd like to know if anyone knows a good fx pedal shop around the uk. I live in leeds but travelling around constantly.

The brands im interested in are Boss, Electro Harmonix, Line 6, Ibanez, EBS and MXR. Im trying to look for a shop to try different pedals from this brands but I dont seem to find many.. All I've seen is Boss and only a bit of EHX.

Anyone know any in the UK?

PMT on Kirkstall Road (Leeds) has quite a good selection of the brands you mentioned.

Northern Guitars on Call Lane (Leeds) often have a good choice of 2nd hand pedals. You can find some rare ones in there if you're lucky.

Hotrox in Nottingham is great for more mainstream brands (especially EHX).

Vintage and Rare on Denmark Street in London is great if you're looking for something more exotic/expensive.

Sounds Great Music in Cheadle has a great selection of lesser known brands.

Effect Power Supplies (Stombox LTD) in London (Hillingdon) carries a lot of different brands.

I live in leeds and I go to PMT like every month. It just has Boss pedals. At least I havent been able to see nothing else conserning the brands i've listed. And well I guess if you say so I should concentrate abit more in Northern Guitars.

And I'm going to check out both London shops since they seem to be big effects shops.

Thanks alot!!

Stompbox in Northwood has all the brands you've mentioned. It's a real treasure trove. Their details are here.

As you walk into the shop, there's a glass cabinet directly to your right on the inside of the door. Look in there... lots of non boss pedals .

No EHX or EBS though, and the selection of non-Boss pedals is limited. I was upset when Music Ground closed, because they had a great selection of rare/unusual effects. Big Deal on the Headrow/Eastgate sometimes has some cool stuff, and they often have discontinued Boss stuff in.

EDIT: Also, try Dolphin Music in Huddersfield. They had a decent selection last time I was in there.

Rose Lane Music is in Liverpool. That place has a sister shop in the city centre, The Gas Factory, on Slater Street. They stock a load of boutique pedals as well as the EHX stuff, and stuff like the new Malekko pedals which are really small i.e. the Chicklet. I know that one of their staff (the boss?) goes out to the US to NAMM to get orders on the latest stuff.

Yeah, Music Ground had an awesome selection. I disliked their business practice and morals but they were really great for effects pedals.

Big Deal is great as well but their stock changes fast with them being so close to the music college. I usually check their everyday on my way back from college and there always seems to be something new in there. I find it's pretty, expensive but cool nonetheless.

Just as I found out Music Ground had amazing effect stuff they closed down :/ Why did that happen? Are they gone anywhere else?

For mountains of boutique new and used pedals, Charlie Chandlers is worth a visit if you're anywhere near south west London (Hampton Wick):

+1 --- Vintage and Rare on Denmark Street. I was on the wait list forever for a D*A*M Super Bee. But Vintage and Rare, had great communications the whole way. No joke about the $$$$ though.

another recommendation for stompbox (effectspowersupplies.com 's shop) in Northwood, just outside London.
superb service - nothing is too much trouble. the guys in there really know their onions, and are very happy to help you scratch your effects itch!
Great prices, and great stock - boss, ebs, mxr, ehx, devi, hbe, tech 21, subdecay......, and soon to include Aguilar (Yay!)

I always liked Northern Guitars. There is also a pawn shop on the headrow that I would pop in occasionally that didn't have some half bad used ones sometimes.
