Anyone know what effect or effects are used on Lenny Kravitz's "Fly Away" during the verses? Thanks!

Seems like an envelope filter set at a low rate either blended with a clean tone or double tracked. I'm guessing one with the sensitivity set fairly low so only those popped notes really trigger it fully.

Sounds a bit like the old DOD 440 which I believe is what the Boomstick Bottom Feeder is based on.

Definately an envelope filter and I believe it's a good call on that DOD 440 as well. The slap notes don't trigger it, only the pops, so also a good call on low sensitivity.

I believe that was a Guytone wah rocker. He had one from japan before they were distributed in the U.S.

Anyone else think that's pretty much the lamest song ever? The lyrics sound like they were written by a 2nd grader.

I'm not really big into the song, but I dig the effect being use and how it's being utilized (activated on the "pop").

Great gobs of compression (potentially multi-band) are stopping the pops from triggering the filter. The pops are choked to within an inch... Definitely blended with a clean signal and, here's a thought, it might even be side-chained! There seems to be no effect on the pops at all - listen to the break-down section (2:02>)

Sounds like the filters working on the slaps and pops to me.

or maybe they just double-tracked it, and cut/pasted the uneffected pops from the clean track into the filtered one.
