Ok so we are headed into the studio soon and today our drummer put velocity triggers on his acoustic drum kit....we needed to give them a test spin...so we plugged in to cakewalk....and this is what came out....
anyway.....I'm looking for opinions on my current distorted tone...
keep in mind this is a rough jam off the cuff....has sort of an Acid King groove happening.... http://soundclick.com/share?songid=7588211
well?

If you are trying to get a certain tone from another artist, that is probably something that someone can help with. Other than that, it honestly just sounds like vanilla distorted bass to me. (Not to say that it's a bad thing, sounds good IMO) |

were i to record the exact same thing i dont think i would change anything, if that means anything to you.
my only criticism is that i dislike purposefully misspelled band names (and bands with exclamation marks on the end [!!! being the exception there] for that matter). it does help in google searches though. anyway, its not like you asked for that... but nice recording sir! |

It's been awhile since I've listened to Acid King (not that you're going for that sound). |

velocity triggers are a small electronic sensor put on acoustic drums to allow them to be run through a drum module.... basically means you can make acoustic drums into electric drums easier to record and run through the P.A. if need be without all the microphone mess...

nope not really going for the Acid King sound, as much as the feel....was listening to them a lot this week so i gues it just crept into out little improv jam session...
this is just my 4x10 running my dirty effects.....live i also run a 15" clean so it actually sounds better than this recording....we ran out of inputs and it was afterall just a test jam session for drum levels and sound with the new triggers....
but it does give me a chance to hear my distortion by itself....keep reviewing guys

experiment and eventually you will get a sound you can live with
I chose these two pedals over better boutique effects for the simple fact that they are easily replaceable....if they crap out it woundn't take much to replace them
thanks for the response guys keep sending opinions/reviews
