I noticed that there have been several threads recently about Doom/Sludge/Stoner stuff, and I figured that maybe we ought to start a megathread for heavy music.
Here is where you can ask questions about heavy music effects and post sound clips and stuff about it to get a good knowledge bank going.

| | | | I love a good phaser for the Sludge/Doom stuff. Or a Mild Overdrive for faster stuff. |

im sure if i had a wah, id use it.

So killing. A 57, a FET 47, a C12 room mic and an Avalon DI. |

I've got my Bass VT on ALL the time, set for some moderate grind. For doomy, sludgy breakdowns, I'll kick in the overdrive on my HBE Hematoma, and it sounds like the world is imploding. We have some more mild, ambient breaks on a few songs, and for those I'll use the chorus and/or delay from my Visual Sounds H20.
Also, just for the record:
Jazz bass bridge Pickup + Heavy Compression + Hematoma + Bass VT + Aphex Bass Xciter + ART Tube PAC = My pinch harmonics squeal louder than my guitarist's with his Les Paul and Marshall JCM2000. |

should we just make this a club? seems like theres enough people here to get one going. if we do, ill take #420 please

BBE sonix maximizer
Dirty sounds go a long way...IMHO
Adding just a touch is workings better...IMHO
but then again it all depends what you are shooting for.

| | | | I like to use a boost for distortion, because I feel like fuzz just buries me in the mix, so I use an MXR Microamp.
For a bit of modulation, I use a Boss Bass Chorus and an MXR Phase 90. Both of those pedals are very, very responsive in the low end without being overpowering. |

It sounds devistating ran in front of another fuzz. I really like it for driving effects with the octave up. I use it in the Truly Beautiful Disaster's loop to drive the small stone.
Plus you can turn the fuzz down and use it as a very dirty octave up.
So far of the octave up fuzz's that ive owned it is my fav. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
