Most likely the majority of you guys play in Standard tuning. But some guys like to play in drop tunning, D, C, B for you 5 stringers out there. What do you guys think about effects when used at these lower tunings. Ive found that its much easier to explore the true potential of most pedals in standard tuning, to bad i play in C. |

OK, no, with the exception of octavers, which generally follow higher notes better; but even then, the lowest notes of regular tuning can be problematic. Otherwise, tuning has no effect on my effects. |

| | | | how about the distortion and synth type stuff. When im in C and im goin through my synth/wah those low frequencies get so strong its like an earthquake. I think there are good and bad pedals for different tunings. Like i dont really like my whammy when im in C but i utilize it alot in standard |

| | | | i like to use my phase90 alot for a little more of a mellowed out vibe, but the tracking is a little off. I gotta rearange my rig today actually and then go out to buy a noise suppressor. |

Given most effects actually roll off low frequencies I'm struggling to blame the effects exclusively. Yes they have a role to play, but it could be something as simple as a little gain boost in a pedal that's just pushing things over the edge.

It's the same set of problems you run into with octaves or distortions or whatever as general categories-- some drop the low end. Using em in seriously dropped tunings means that loss can be magnified somewhat.

If it's a "tracking" issue, that definitely means your pickups are flawed.
