effects in alternate tunings

Most likely the majority of you guys play in Standard tuning. But some guys like to play in drop tunning, D, C, B for you 5 stringers out there. What do you guys think about effects when used at these lower tunings. Ive found that its much easier to explore the true potential of most pedals in standard tuning, to bad i play in C.

I've never had a circumstance where my tuning had anything whatsoever to do with the way my effects sounded. OK, no, with the exception of octavers, which generally follow higher notes better; but even then, the lowest notes of regular tuning can be problematic. Otherwise, tuning has no effect on my effects.

how about the distortion and synth type stuff. When im in C and im goin through my synth/wah those low frequencies get so strong its like an earthquake. I think there are good and bad pedals for different tunings. Like i dont really like my whammy when im in C but i utilize it alot in standard

I play a whole step down and don't find any trouble using effects, even tried a whammy and it's on my list now; what kinda stuff do yo do?

i like to use my phase90 alot for a little more of a mellowed out vibe, but the tracking is a little off. I gotta rearange my rig today actually and then go out to buy a noise suppressor.

get the BOSS NS-2, works great, and you can shut it off when you need a good feedback

There should be no problem unless you have an octave pedal in your setup.

I play (amongst other tunings) a 5 string bass tuned two whole steps down, and the bass frequencies from the low G string on an active bass can indeed make some effects distort, for instance chorus and envelope filter effects.

Maybe his signal was going out of phase.

Sounds like low frequency feedback - a problem with EQ or compression? Given most effects actually roll off low frequencies I'm struggling to blame the effects exclusively. Yes they have a role to play, but it could be something as simple as a little gain boost in a pedal that's just pushing things over the edge.

+1.

It's the same set of problems you run into with octaves or distortions or whatever as general categories-- some drop the low end. Using em in seriously dropped tunings means that loss can be magnified somewhat.

Wait, are you hoping the noise suppressor will improve your "tracking"? If it's a "tracking" issue, that definitely means your pickups are flawed.
