Effects expression foot pedal

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey peeps. I am an older bass player wanna-be who just got back into playing bass at home for my own entertainment. Was never into effects before but now I want to play around with some effects.

Getting an Electro-Harmonix Bass Microsynth Effects pedal. But it is just a stomp button. Was wondering if anyone could suggest (if it will work) an 'expression' pedal I could get to use in line with the EH unit?

I don't think any of the parameters can be controlled with an expression pedal.

And, looking at a picture of it, there doesn't seem to be an expression in. Sweet idea, though.

I think I should have said looking for something that I can control with a foot pedal (not a stomp button) to allow the EH Synth box to incresingly inject it's sound shaping into the circuit as I press the pedal downward. Perhaps there is nothng along those lines that will work? lol

So you want a wet/dry blend that's controlled by an expression pedal.

I don't know of one off the top of my head, but I'm not too savvy when it comes to loopers & blend pedals myself.

Doesn't seem the Ehx can be run with an exp pedal, but there are other bass synth pedals that can. I'd go that direction, otherwise you're looking at doing the impossible.

what if you had your signal split before the microsynth and then rejoined afterwards - and in one line place the Microsynth followed by a volume pedal?

There's a mod to allow expression pedals for the BMS. Think there was a thread quite some time back. I had a friend to do mine.

Morley makes one- http://www.morleypedals.com/dfxb.html
I have never tried it though, so who knows how seamlessly it functions!

I think morley makes an expression controllable blend pedal.

an Ernie Ball volume pedal works well for this. the "tuner" out is your dry signal and the "output", which is controlled by the pedal, goes to the fx.

of course then you'll need either an amp with 2 channels or another pedal to recombine the 2 signals.

The problem I could see with this method is that you would be passively splitting your signal without any buffers, which could result in a fairly weak tone and reduced volume from both sides. The Morley, on the other hand, is an actively buffered pedal which in theory would result in a more consistent tone across the board...

Sliders are variable resistors, just like the potentiometers in expression pedals. I've seen a couple places where they mod the stop frequency slider to be controlled via EXP pedal instead. Good idea!
