Effects Loop Question - Balanced/Unbalanced

OK, so I got a compressor today. It's apparently more intended for recording or live sound, as the line input/output are balanced 1/4" TRS.

OK, so...Can I use these I/O connections with unbalanced 1/4" TR in my amp's effects loop?

I think I can, but thought I'd better ask to make sure. My mind plays tricks on me these days.

Yes, usually you can run those I/O's unbalanced. There are some instances where I wouldn't want to, e.g. with a very long cable run, or when connecting directly to certain power amps that want a balanced input. Otherwise, should be fine.

Yeah, thanks, this is what I thought. Sleeve and ring are effectively interchangeable with straight shield, but I wanted to make sure my reasoning wasn't faulty. I've made some stupid mistakes lately.
