Greetings effects gurus. I am new into the effects world and I have a quick question regarding my effects connections.

First off, the gear:

Genz Benz GBE 600 (racked) into Schroeder 1212+L and Homebrew 115.

The Basses:

Schecter Active, SX Passive

The Pedals:

EBS MultiDrive Black Label, Way Huge Swollen Pickle

I wil more than likely not be using the SX with any effects but anything is possible.

Should I be going through the effects loop or just direct into the head?

I was fortunate enough to score a powered pedal board from a trade for an amp stand (SCORE!!) so I'm going to have to fill that up now.

Why did no one warn me that Pedal GAS is worse than any other GAS I've ever had?

Just go direct to your amp. Amp effects loops generally are designed for rack units at line level. The pedals run at instrument level.

Pedal GAS is bad because you're never too much money away from a new one whether you need it or not. $1500 later....

Right on. My pedal beginnings are humble, much as I'm sure were yours at one time. At least they are small enough so the wife won't notice.

lol its sad when pedals are probably worth more than the rest of the gear...

ah well two pedal boards worth of stuff to go crazy with and make as many crazy noises as I like now

I think just remember that you only live once and so long as you arent selling your soul for a pedal I think you will be ok!

It can add up pretty quick, especially since I refuse to get a multieffect processor. I need pots and visual control setting on the outside. Starting a habit is easy, quitting is most difficult.

It's all true. I added up just the pedals I currently own, (not the 5x as many I've sold or traded), and it came to more than my amp and cabs. Real eye op-ener.
