I honestly think that most of the octave pedals on the market are pretty good. It really just depends on what kind of features are important to you. Some octave pedals track better than others. Some have cooler tones. Some have other features like octave up or drive settings. It depends on what you want and what your budget is.

I use a Boss OC-2. Other good ones...

Boss OC-3
EBS Octabass
EHX Pog/Micro Pog
EHX Octave Multiplexer
Foxrox Octron

The MI Audio octave pedal looks really cool. There are probably others I'm not thinking of.

Oh, forgot the Digitech Bass Synth wah for a very solid octaver sound at a low price. Your budget will help you narrow it down a lot.

i second the digitech bass synth wah, it is a good buy for the money, especially if you're on a budget

The EHX Micro POG is excellent. Octave up and down, very clean, and great tracking.

Also, do a search for "octave" in this forum, and you'll have plenty of info to read up on.

I like the Octave Multiplexer for a simple octave down with dirt. Tracking is horrible, but part of the charm. Looking hard at the Zvex Jonny Octave, but it's $300, so I'll think some more.

OC-3 for Tappers!

For Two-handed tapping, the OC-3 (in POLY mode) stands out head and shoulders.

By using the filter/range control, you can have killer sub/synth bass line, with crystal clear chords on top.

i love my dod octoplus - it sounds great when set up right, and can track down pretty low. i regularly get down to an E with it and no issues / tracking glitches. I got mine on ebay for about £20 - bargain!

EHX Micro Pog. The tracking is spot-on.

That sounds perfect. I tried the OC-3 once, which had 1 and 2 octaves down and sounded ok. I also tried a Digitec Whammy and the tracking seemed to get questionable if I let a note sustain for more than a second.

I bought one (micro pog)and it went DOA after a couple of weeks.

Very disappointing.

I did not prefer its sound over the Digitech Whammy pedal either, although the Digitech definitely has issues with the occasional confusion & warbling. The Micro POGS sound i just did not like as much, sorry. Also the Digi Tech as so many more features besides UP & DOWN

Pog has sliders. Micropog has some knobs. Essentially, you can do a lot more with the Pog, but you're going to pay a lot more!

Check them out at www.ehx.com or use the "search" function on this forum. Lots of pogular discussion.

Any reason the Micro would be less reliable than the Pog or was yours just a dud?

Any opinions on the Zvex Octane 3? I heard one on guitar recently and was absolutely floored. One review here said they lost a bit of bottom:

Octave Up

Any thoughts?

Since you have a 6 string I;d say POG. The +2 octave voices + your ERB = geetard out of a job
