effects pedals review

I went to GC the other day because I was interested in checking out the Fishman Fission pedal. I want to have a little distortion with a electric guitar doubling the bass part sound. Well, in my humble opinion, the pedal sucks. I could not get a good sound out of it. I sounds to "fakey". I was disappointed.

While I was there I also checked out the ElectroHarmonix Freeze pedal. Long story short, I bought the pedal. It is a sustain pedal that really works well. The only tricky part is timing of plucking the note and hitting the footswitch. I recommend this pedal.

A few days later I checked out a MXR Bass Octave Deluxe pedal. Again I could not get a good sound out of it.

I also tried the ElectroHarmonix POG2 pedal. This pedal is really cool if you want a Hammond organ sound. But it is not my cup of tea so I did not get it. But it is fun!

Take care my fellow bass dudes! And remember that this is just MY opinion. Your mileage may vary!

Thanks for the reviews.......but......

I think most pedals we have a real interest in need to be taken home and tried through our own rigs before completely dismissing them. Some pedals I own have internal trim pots that can really change how the pedal works and sounds. You usually don't discover those types of things until you get the pedal home and really play around with it.

Having said all that ......there are some pedals that just flat out suck. In store or not.

My 2 cents.
