effects selection in Seattle / Tacoma area

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm just getting started with effects. I am travelling and I am in the Seattle/Tacoma area (staying in Kent) and have a free day. Can anyone point me to the shops that have the best selection of effects on hand?

Visited Bass NW. Great guys and I have long done mail order business with them. Many basses, many amps, not many effects.

Thanks for your help.

Yup, Trading Musician is pretty good. They always seems to have at least 1 super cool old/weird bass in stock to play with too!

American Music in Fremont is also good depending on who's working that day.

If you head a bit west onto the islands there is also The Mad Ape who carry a TON of stuff and seem like cool people.

Old town isn't so scary in the daytime.

Portland, Oregon; America's toughest town.

I mean the amount of cool pedals they usually have on hand... I've lived in Richmond CA before, after that not much phases you... To me Portland is nice quaint place.

I need to go the The Mad Ape one of these days....

Ahhh. That makes more sense. Old town at night is about as scary as it gets here. Which is to say not very. It is the place to be for an effects junky, though. You can also bond with the meth junkies outside. Fun for everybody.

Renton is quite close to Kent. This is a decent store.

Yeah, pretty much. There I have had to deal with some real a$$es, but there is this girl there (a Japanese girl, Mud senpai) named Ayako who is super nice and knows her stuff.

I have yet to hit up the Ape yet, either. I don't make it out to the islands much but perhaps I should make a day of it.

Thanks for the tips. Trading Musicians is closed on Wednesday and that seems like a cool place. I ended up staying outside Seattle. A Sharp Music ha d a nice selection of pedals. I also checked out Bellevue American Music, Northwest Guitars and Guitar Center in Tukwila. Not much in pedal selection but there were vry nice, helpful workers at every store. I did get to try out a sweet Stingray Classic 5 at Guitar Center...damn fine bass.

Sounds like Downtown Spokane minus the cool music store that stocks lots of cool effects.
