Effects Send/return, who actually uses it ?
All amps seem to have this feature standard, ive hardly ever seen anyone using it instead always going through a pedal train. It would be good if manufacturers included other features just as much as say, speaker mute/headphones out/compression etc which seem to be omitted on many amps. Any send/return fans out there ?
On my B rig, I run an RBI out of the FX send on my Beat down old Carvin RL1000. Works pretty well for that. My pedals however are always in the front, where they are supposed to be.
I use a compressor and tuner in my ampeg "effects loop."
My GK has a tuner out and I haven't been running compression with it so I haven't needed it.
Having an amp that can easily accommodate both line level and instrument level is a nice feature even if not necessary for all situations.
If I had a rack compressor I'd use it on my bass amp, otherwise...never. I do use them on my guitar amps though.
Old Trace loops with level control and highpass are great. I mainly use the loop with parametric filter for my DB.
I've run both ways...can't tell much difference other than more wires to manage.
It seems to me to be either:
Bass-->preamp-->pedal effects-->power amp
Bass-->pedal effects-->preamp-->power amp.
As mentioned above, it's a bit different when rack effects are added:
Bass-->pedal effects-->preamp-->rack effects-->power amp.
So without rack units in your rig it's a superfluous feature.
