Seriously?

Anyway, look in the pedalboard of the stars thread, or do a search for tool+tone. He uses a staggering number of effect combinations, so "nailing it" may be difficult.

I hear a definite distortion, delay, chorus, and flanger depending on where in the song.

colorsound tonebender during the intro, flange (boss bf-2) during the first verse, flange and delay (dd-3, I think) for the next verse and an interlude before the third voice, guyatone br-2 -> tonebender under the guitar solo, flanger after solo, then flanger and delay one more time, then tonebender at the very end.

All that and a can of peanuts.

Just try it out then. I suspect i won't sound too great but yeah. JC uses a Boss BF-2.

Also, he uses two separate channel/amps in every song i believe.

Theres a guy on youtube named TOOLbassplayer and he owns every pedal on JC's board.

He goes through the entire effect chain and plays a bunch of TOOL riffs, I beleive Jambi is in there somewhere..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPA015Gjyt4

Hope that helps

Edit: He plays jambi at the 14 minute mark :P

As a matter of fact, that same guy is WalBassPlayer here on TB, and is Brad on ToolTabs, and he writes all of the bass tabs there. Here is the Jambi tab, which includes which effects to use when:

They can go for it IMO... No offense to brad (he has done some awesome work for budding tool bass fans), but half the guys on that site are pretentious ****s

Up each other for the stupidest things and thinking they own the songs. At the end of the day, they are just copying what Tool are doing anyway. They are not the only people capable of writing a Tool tab... If they want to write people off and hate people asking questions (of any kind, researched or not), why do it in the first place?

Enough rant...

Sounds like you were chased off of ToolTabs?

The thing is that the same questions are asked a million times. There's a lot of good information on the website and if new people did a search they would realise that there's no need to start a new thread.

I'll agree, though - it's a difficult place to be accepted. You've just got to realise that it's the internet - over the internet you can say absolutely anything without truly meaning it and no one will know. The people who are there have fun with being able to do that. Prententious or not, it's a lot of fun. There are no bad intentions, even though this tends to be what many people choose to believe.

Yeah fair enough... We get that a lot here too. Its annoying as. I have seen people ask for tab information though, and be written off because they are 'too lazy' to get the tab. Well...not all the tabs are under the Tabs section. Some are in the forums. Maybe laziness is not updating the site and getting the poos if people are a bit lost?

Accepted by whom?? The uber elite, inner circle of tool fanboys...? Like you said.. Its just the net dude. Personally, id rather just steal the tabs and not talk to them

Sorry man, but the forum just isn't for me. No loss to that forum or myself.

+1 to what you said about good info there though (i just personally can't handle half the kooks that post there...I guess im just soft after spending a couple of years in a quality forum, full of nice knowledgable chaps like TB?)

Yeah, accepted by the inner circle. That's actually exactly what I meant.

I get your points though.

Cheers.. I didn't mean to pee off the TT users. Thanks for accepting my comments for what they are. Just personal opinion. Looking back at my original post, I was a bit harsh in the first place!

Lets keep going with the Jambi thread.
