Effects used in "Smooth Operator"

I am trying to get the short bass lead down for the song "Smooth Operator"........but I know the bass player has a cool bass that helps with the sound......but he must be using some type of effect also.......Can you help me get that sound????

imho you only have to put on some chorus for the solo part

Like the others have said, chorus. I think the player is using a pick, also.
