Effects & Wireless ??

Sign in to disble this ad
Who here uses wireless systems and effects?
How do you hook it up, do you have the receiver in a rack or on your board?
Wondering what the best option will be as I have a wireless system in my rack so I was thinking of running 2 cables, like this:

Bass>wireless>cable to pedal board>effects>cable to amp>amp

Any thoughts or advise??

Dan

I use a loom cable, I found a supplier online that sold 6m 4 way loom cables with funky 9v power adaptors. This let me use 2 leads in it for wireless to board and back to amp, and another for power, so I leep all mains plugs and adaptors at the back with the amp. Each lead in it is colour coded too.

Keeps the stage a lot tider and safer.

It was from johnnyshredfreak.com, but I'm not sure they do the 4 way looms any more, but there are other sources around if you search. Even so, the DC/guitar cable adaptors are great and a worthwhile purchase.

Unfortunately, I've now switched back to a multi fx that it 12v, so I have to have a separate power cable, but the loom is still easier and tidier to use.

And this is why I love having a wireless unit I can mount on my pedalboard. Only one long cable is necessary.

That loom is a cool idea!! I like their 'Boss to 1/4"' adapters too.

I'd be cautious about running too many effects; could get some objectionable voltage drop.

X2 digital wireless rack mounted. Very good. Had it over a year no problems.

I suppose it depends on the PSU you use. I've got one of their PSU's too, built to their exacting standards, and I guess designed to be used like this. I used 4 very juicy digitech x-series pedals, a boss v-wah, marshall guv'nor and tuner and never had a problem. Although compared to some here, that's a small pedal board! TBH, I never needed them all at once, but it was nice to be able to.

Yeah, that's one of the problems with 'supposing'.

Power supply capability won't change whether you use a 1 or 100 foot delivery cable. Line drop depends on the current draw and the gauge of the wire used for distribution.

The loom is still a good idea even if you have to run AC separately to the pedal board.

I also use the X2 XDS which works great on my pedalboard. It can also be powered with a one spot so I've got one cable powering all of my pedals/wireless and one cable going to my rack. Works great.
