Hello

Want to get one. Is it true new models are not so good?

No.

It is a general consensus (based on my observations here) that there is a small difference in tone, and that it is not an improvement, but it is so insignificant that it doesn't justify the larger unit with the crummier power supply.

Only a few (perhaps only one) have really railed on the tone difference between the two, those few have stuck with the big one.

Many have said that the new XO versions don't contain the "oomph" or punch of the original. I've also heard that the sliders are way too light to the touch, making dialing in a sound difficult. However, I've never laid my hand on one (much to my displeasure) so I can't comment fully.

Also, the search function is your BEST friend here. I promise. Try that first next time, it'll save you a bunch of time!

I had both and I didn't think that. But some people can be really picky with what they get. There are some slight differences with the range on the sliders. But to me it seemed minimal.

I have the large one. It's great (if you can deal with the power supply), but mine adds quite a bit of volume to my signal even when bypassed. It is always a struggle to keep it under control without sucking the rest of tone. I mostly don't use it now for that reason and it's a shame.

Played it, liked it, played a Markbass Super Synth, loved it, forgot about the EHX.

There are differences between the current XO version and the 24v NYC reissue and even more compared to an older A/C versions.0
The XO has true bypass fixing past issues and is significantly smaller. The XO works on 9v power making it easier to integrate into a pedal board, although EHX sez not to daisy chain.
Some of the sonic and range differences may be due to the change in power and variances in quality of parts used, it is after all an analog device.

I have kept my NYC BMS over the XO because I prefer the older version and i'm familiar with what this particular one does.
