EH Small stone = Squealing synth! HELP!!!!

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys,
I picked up a One-spot to power some of my pedals. It works great for my bassbawls, BOSS pedals and even my ROSS compressor. My Small stone is having BIG problems with it though. I took out the battery and used the included 1/8" plug to power it and I got this NASTY loud squeal when I engaged the pedal. So, I used the 9v battery clip attachment instead and got the same problem. The one-spot puts out 9v so I'm not sure why that'd still happen. Any suggestions?
It's loud to the point where it's probably blow my amp if I was at a show. Kinda sound like a police siren depending on how fast the trim knob is set.

I don't think EH pedals work well with anything other than their own adaptors (or a custom job). I could be wrong on the SS, but the ones I have are 24V.

the 1spot works for the small stone. regardless of if its the regular or the nano, the 1spot has adapters if its not the regular ol 9v boss power. it might just be the pedal, or some other crazyness, but i highly doubt its the 1spot. those things are great. as is the small stone

Yeah, I doubt it's the One-spot since it works fine in my Bassbawls (both of which are 9v). Any clue of what could be wrong with te pedal. I'll open 'er up tonight to see if something is obviously wrong with the wiring. It's from the 70's and has seen better days.

If you only have the Small Stone plugged into the 1-spot, does it still squeal?

I'll try that. Think it's not getting enough juice?

Yeah. 1-Spots have a maximum of 1700 mA and if you've got a bunch of pedals on it -- I think Boss pedals draw 200 mA each, no idea on the Ross -- the Small Stone may be getting the short end of the stick. What's its current draw?

I've only got a blues driver, BBalls, Smallstone, and the ross being powered by the one-spot.

I`m just guessing but could the mini plug adapter have caused the problem? My Compulator short-circuited when I encaged the mini plug adapter to pedal (and power was already on!)

Does it do the same thing with the battery? With those pedals, I don't think there's anyway way you're running out of juice with the 1spot...

I'm having the same issue with my micro q-tron. Except mine is going through a DC brick and uses the regular boss type adapter.
