A 22 watt power amp isn't going to drive a bass cab. Any bass cab. Sorry to burst that bubble.

No, but it would be cool if they made another, larger power amp that was in the chassis for the DMMH/BMS. That might give them enough room to make the amp powerful enough to be useful for us bassists.

so we would be looking at a 100W power amp in a nano or at the very least XO chassis. is that even physically possible?

Nifty stuff! Now if they made a tube version I'm sure that there's some people who would be foaming at the mouth for these.

Sure. Heck, look at the new Genz-Benz amps. They have one with a dual 600 watt poweramp and two preamp channels that weighs like 12 pounds. Take the preamp circuit out, and you get rid of a LOT of space, and most of the weight. Class D power amps are pretty wild.

I do believe 22 watts will drive a bass cab. I have the Hughes and Kettner B.A.T.T. , a single el84 power tube, 6-8 watts. Drives a cab nicely. I generally use a Wizzy 110. I have also used a 115, and a 15 w/2 6's. Drove them all nicely. Also to take note of, which I have also tried, the Phil Jones Bass Buddy. 10watts out. No, it is not for R&R. A small amp as such works great with acoustic guitar players, even if they use a small P.A. And I thought I had a small portable rig with a Wizzy 110 and the BATT, the Caliber would really increase the portability. I hope to hear that the Caliber doesn't break up early, aimed at guitarists and that it has good low response, we'll see. I am anxiously awaiting to hear. Elderly has the Caliber posted with est. arrival of 7-24-09 for $99 U.S.

You sure about that? Maybe not get you up to gigging levels(with a band anyway, coffee shop maybe?), but I would guess that 22watts would be plenty for practicing at home at least; I'm not up on my amp trivia, but Im pretty sure that the old highly sought-after B12n and/or B15n's were 25watts driving 12 and 15" speakers respectively. Either way, Im curious to see the reviews once people get their hands on them.

So, why won't they just show the amp on its own and not with that muff? Semi-fail.

22 watts will easily drive a bass cab for practice at home. It is more powerful than my old 12 watt Fender MusicMaster Bass amp from years back. I even used that amp when writing lines with my old drummer back in the day.
