EHX Bass Micro Synth volume drain?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm using the older looking version and i've never seen a pedal that drains so much volume. Its such a shame because its so cool when you're using it.

Does anyone else find this? Are there any remedies for this?...i guess a true bypass? I'd have no idea how to do that though.

PS. I'm running it through my fx loop on my Ashdown RC EVOIII ABM 575w

This pedal has one of the worst bypasses of all time. Just put in it a loop that you can bypass.

you can have it modded by analogman (www.analogman.com) and have the LED corrected (for when the effect is ON or OFF, not the power).

I had mine modded and it sounds great now.

Is there not a thread that walks you through a true bypass mod?

We done a bunch of threads on this issue...

You've got four choices (with options) as I see it...
1. Follow TOOL's link the true bypass thread and
A. Do it yourself
B. Get a solder-friendly friend to do it
C. Send it to someone like Analogman as mark suggested

2. Buy a true bypass looper from somewhere like www.loop-master.com (5 week wait period) or build one yourself from www.generalguitargadgets.com.

3. Upgrade to the new EHX XO Bass Microsynth www.thevintagesound.com

4. Do nothing and experience the worst tone loss on bass history

I had the same issue, when I did the True bypass mod, it made worlds of difference. I could turn the trim up to get the sound i wanted without it distorting or loosing volume in bypass mode...good luck, it was pretty easy to do myself

I've had the same procedures done to mine although not through Analogman. My guy said it was easy (already had a 3pdt switch installed just needed minor rewiring).
