EHX Bass Micro Synth XO volume loss

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello all,

I heard there were some issues with the old Bass Micro Synth pedals having a huge volume loss. Saw some threads where they solved the problem by making it true bypass. I recently bought the new Bass Micro Synth XO version (which is already true bypass) and I'm experiencing a huge loss of volume as well.

Anyone else having this problem too? Or should I start panicking and take it back to the shop?

Thanks for the response already
Cheers

I use that pedal in conjunction with some others and haven't experienced a volume loss. I keep the dry signal all the way up and octave up at 95% and sub at 85%

Did you adjust the internal trimpot?

This needs to be set to accomodate the signal coming from your bass.
If it is set too high, the unit will produce distorted sounds (especially on the sub-octave). If it is set too low, the pedal might have a hard time triggering the filter, and maybe it can cause you to have low volume too?

There are other treads on this forum about the BMS that describe the trim pot adjustment in detail.

With the trimpot adjusted, I get unity gain on mine with the "guitar" slider (dry signal) at 7. So I can even boost the volume if I wish! When used together with sub octave and octave up, I have to keep the guitar slider at about 5 to get only a slight volume boost.

Lots of headroom on this pedal and it can deliver an ouput louder than the input.
Check the trimpot as suggested and remember to keep filter frequencies all the way up when you don't use them.
