EHX Bass Microsynth: big box vs. small box

Sign in to disble this ad
Has anyone compared the EHX bass microsynth bigger sized pedal from a couple years back to the current more compact version?

Any difference in sound between the two versions?

Here's the general rundown of what I've read here.

Kevteop thinks it is night and day and prefers the old one. He owned the old, sold it, bought the new, sold it, and re-bought the old. Most that notice a difference prefer the old one. They like the sound a little better and the sliders are a little easier to dial into a good sound.

Many that prefer the sound of the old one don't find it enough of a difference to warrant the 24V power supply and larger footprint. The old one had the worlds worst bypass, but it comes with a 3pdt standard so it is an easy mod to true bypass if that is your preference. The new one is already TBP.

So the short version: the old one sounds better, but for most it's not significant enough to worry about it.
