what pedals are you using in the third and forth demos?

It's just a particular distortion pedal with the bassballs. It's my oldest trade secret so I'm not going to tell you which one, but most distortion pedals will get you some pretty rad sounds with the bassballs. Also, note that I used a slide for the fourth sample. I think the bassballs sounds badass with a slide.

i am actually just falling in love again with my old bassballs, need a power supply for it though.. i love putting it with an overdrive.. it screams!

Have you got the old USA BassBalls with the 1/8th" power plug? 1 Spot makes a convenient little doohickey that converts a typical 2.2mm Boss style plug to the 1/8th inch, and it works nicely if you're using a boss style daisy chain.

I just wanted to update this thread because I've pulled my old BassBalls pedal out and found a cool new use for it. Of course these old clips are done with a Jazz Bass, but I gave it a go with my SG Bass, and what I really like to do with it is roll the sensitivity way back with the distortion off to use the BassBalls as a low pass filter. Can give you a really cool dub like sound, or I like to use it with my Fulltone OCD in front of it to get what I think is a really cool distorted bass sound that sits in the background, and I'll try to do some recording soon and get a clip of what that sounds like.
