Well i decided to buy my FIRST pedal today, an English Muff'n.
I COMPLETELY overlook the fact that guitareffectspedals.com has a disclaimer on top (in bold) that says "International Shipping not Included". I happily pay for the pedal (not the shipping) thinking that they are such class acts for offering free shipping.
I got seperately billed for shipping a while later.
I'm now trying to cancel my order and go with tonefactor, which is about 30 USD cheaper.

Tonefactor is 20 USD for international shipping. I'm quite sure i can get the power adaptor here cheaper than GEP.com selling it + 11.95 USD.
So you're right, depending on whether i can get power sups cheap here...

On the site they said "free shipping", with no reference to whether it was inland or international. Just free shipping, so I thought "if I go through the order and I'm charged without being asked for anything more, well, it must be what it says". So, I finish the order, I'm charged normally and I'm waiting for the pedal. Waiting, waiting... sent an email a few weeks after. No response. One month passes by, I decide to call (I don't like being charged for international phonecalls if not necessary, that's why it took me so long) and a guy says "I think we're out of stock (!), but send another email and I promise you'll have an answer in 24 hours". OK, I send an email hoping that's not the case. Of course, no response, so 2 days after I call again. Same guy answers the phone, but hands it to some other salesperson who was responsible for this stuff. So, I ask why they didn't answer my email(s) and he says "we were expecting a phonecall from you"! What, were they too lazy to write an email? Anyway, the guy tells me that I must pay another 20 pounds for shipping. So, since I didn't want it that bad and I was pissed off at their behaviour, I ask for a refund. He tells me that I must deal with my bank and that they can't arrange it... I probably should have shouted at him at this point, but I called my bank to see if I could end this. They told me that this is not the normal way to do it, they should refund the money, but if I insisted I should go to the bank, fill out a claim form, and if it went well I might have my money back in a month or so. At this point I wrote a very angry email to them, where I said that I'm not gonna go in this hassle because they can't bother with anything, and that I demand either a full refund or the pedal at the price I was asked for it and paid over a month ago. They sent me the pedal eventually without charging me for shipping (although I'm pretty sure it was just because they were too lazy to do whatever is necessary for the refund), but it was a bit nerve-breaking.
Per your case, if you can't cancel your order, maybe you could ask them to match tonefactor's price or throw in some cables or other stuff you could use.

I just buy everything with a credit card. If something like that happens (which it has) I just call up American Express and tell them that the product never shipped. They refund my money no questions asked and let the merchant deal with it.

I used my Visa Electron debit card and that's what my bank told me. I didn't call Visa though, I'm not sure if it's their responsibility or the bank's. The bank didn't tell me to contact Visa, so I guess it's the bank's...
