My new toy EHX Freeze, just got it a few hours ago and am having lots of fun and seeing potential for use. Dusted off some older solo bass pieces and the sustained note loops will breathe new life into them, can also see using it some for intros on tunes where I play the intro melody by having a sustained low note or chord to play over. Will come in handy for those times i need a note or chord to sustain that I used to do with a keyboard.
Whatcha doin with yours?

You and me both! At the moment, I'm using it in my drone / abstract / general oddness solo project (http://crotchthrottle.bandcamp.com/a...he-coffee-shop). There's no Freeze on these tracks, but if you listen to "Leekabob," "Frequent Burrito," or "The Only Postcard You Have From Here," it should be pretty obvious that I digs the drones. The Freeze will be all over the next album.

As for how I use it, so far, I'll just freeze a note or chord and modulate the living heck out of it. Maybe multitrack a couple like that and hey-presto! I've got the groundwork for a freak-out!

Still trying to figure out a way to get it into my "regular" band (http://www.theinclined.com) - nothing's popped up yet, but maybe in the next batch of songs...

I'm also trying to figure where and when to use it, also where to place it in my efx chain and board.

I keep mine upfront, in case I want to latch the original signal and freely manipulate it from there.

im looking to get one as well as the new boss PS-7 for making synth pads. mostly to play over epic breakdowns, as we dont have a keyboardist.

I'm doing the same things you are, mainly working it into old solo tunes and such. I've been also using it in conjunction with a delay at church. We do some meditative pieces, and having that drone really gets the congregation excited.

I've been fiddling with where I want to put it, and it depends for me. Normally, I'll put it in front for the regular stuff. When I play with my looper, I'll put it at the very end (so the drones don't get sampled and repeated).

Oh? Is this a Tibetan Buddhist church? Or are you invoking an electronica-like Gregorian Chant kind of atmosphere? (the word "meditation" can be thought of as a satanic practice in some evangelical churches...)

It's Unitarian, so we cover pretty much any style you can imagine. It would be closer to the Buddhist idea of meditation, invoking mantras and the like.

This is a pretty useful way to utilize the Freeze, I did dome stuff that was very old school synth sounding, tweaking knobs on various effects while holding a note, chord or harmonic cluster.

Having the freeze hold a note is also a handy way to 'tune' in a particular sound.

Having a bit of fun using the Freeze and the AdrenaLinn III trippy filter sounds.

except for just playing around, i use mine when i'm chording mostly. there's a song or two where i use it to sustain the chord to add some body, or hold to chord and outline it so it's more like playing with a guitar player but not having to have one.

if that makes sense. i just gave blood and the Sandman is COMING.

i use the freeze in a trio. it replaced my reverb and short delay. it sustains the note and fills the space when my guitarist is playing some solo or riff. only bad thing is i gotta keep stepping the pedal sometimes when i change the chord.

the freeze will drone the fuzz/clean signal and can play clean/fuzz over it, stereo eletric mistress will effect the drone

this has some good ideas for using freeze http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjFth1mg5Rc

I just got one too. I plan to use it to hold low notes on the B string for fatness while freeing my hand for octave up work. Probably won't use the latch function much.
