EHX HOG, worth the price? + Holy stain questions

Sign in to disble this ad
Is the hog worth the price, Christmas is coming up and I need to know what to do with my after Christmas cash.

The hog is one of the COOLEST pedals ive seen and I really like what the pog can do (ive only used the pog before, and with amazing results ). So I was wondering what peoples opinions are on here, is it worth 570$s (with foorswitch) new?
(I don't buy used stuff unless I have it under my nose)

Just to get out of the way, I know it's alot about personal preference, but aside from that, just give me what YOU think, Thanks!

Btw: I just bought the holy stain, and if for nothing else I love it as a tone box (dont care for the drive so much, fuzz i thought was (I might buy a graphic fuzz... mmm...) and it has an "expression pedal input" and as most of you on here have surmised. yes. im new to effects, so does that mean I can just buy anything labeled Expression pedal and use it, or is there one designed for it?

Thanks once more

I've played with the HOG (i own the POG)
And it's a really cool pedal with lots of different sounds
But to me it seemed more like a studio effect

I used it with an exp pedal and the optional memory bay
The slide effects were really really neat, but for me it would be hard to drop 570 since it'd be difficult to use all the other stuff on it for a live performance, unless you're quite fancy with your setup.

Really try and play one before you buy it
I was going to buy the HOG over the POG then i played it and
it just seemed a little too much for me

thanks, yeah, it does seem a little much, yeah it would be a cool studio effect, maybe, yeah, I'll have to use it sometime, but with my songs I have a really elaborate set up so i think the memory bay would be really sweet.

but i will try my hardest to play it myself.

I've never played with the HOG myself, but I saw a guitarist playing through one a few weeks back (my band actually played with his band) and I almost wet myself with sheer awe when he kicked it in. It sounded nothing short of phenomenal.

You can get it for less than $570 @ eBay.
