EHX Iron Lung on Bass- Video

Sign in to disble this ad
I picked this up today. It is awesome. I love it. So much fun. I'll let my video speak for me:

I know some parts are really rough. That's a combination of my crappy playing, and still learning the finesse involved with this.

Neat. Seriously, this whole me not having any money thing has got to stop. Although this really makes me GAS for the V256 as much as the Iron Lung.

It is tons of fun! If anyone has some vocoder requests, let me know, and I'll see what I can do.

Styx isn't something I like to be familiar with, but I'll at least work up the chorus

Please, help me:
Does EHX V256 can do all what can Iron Lung? I mean, V256 has got so much modes, mayby in one of these modes sounds like Iron Lung? Or these two devices can't be compared?

Sorry about my English =)

I believe the Iron Lung is a cut-down version of the V256 so yes, the V256 will do everything the Iron Lung can do, but not the other way round. I think!

How much low end does this thing allow through? Or better yet, does it affect the low end well. I'm looking at getting one for both classic vocoded lines, but also as basically another filter for synth bass sounds.

I've just got myself a V256, and you can blend the original signal with the effect so i don't think that low end loss is too big a deal once you find the right mix.

Not sure which mode of the V256 the Iron Lung uses, since there's 2 "instrument" ones; Instrument control, or Single Drone.

Instrument control is a vocal pitch correction, taking the pitch from the instrument input. I find i get tracking problems if i try to go lower than an open A.

Single Drone (with the pitch knob at either extreme) uses the acoustic content from the instrument input with the vocals shaping it like a filter. This mode is what every bassist is looking for. Here's a sample a recorded for my brother's entertainment.

Incidentally, McHaven your video was one of the main factors which made me pull the trigger on this one. Thank you!

I only went for the V256 over the Iron Lung because i'm childish enough to find the sound of pitch correction hilariously funny. I don't think i'll ever use it except to make people laugh (or myself at least).
