EHX LPB-1....x2?

Would I be right in thinking one LPB driving into another would give me a nice crunchy, just-breaking-up sort of sound? If anyone has a couple, or any other pair of gain boosters hanging about I would love to hear them...

if you're using a high gain tube amp... maybe.

Seems to me you'd be better off just getting an actual overdrive pedal since that's the sound you seem to want.

+1 to getting an OD. I think the LPB would have too much headroom to be distorted by another one before it. If you had a tube amp or something then you could get 3 "channels" out of it with that setup. Set the amp clean/just on the edge of breaking up, and use the 2 boosts to give it a little more. Actually I think it would be more than 3 "channels" depending on where you set each one....

You could easily mod the LPB-1 to give you some crunch.

Hey, the LPB-1 makes your amp ten times louder!!!

That was the EH slogan when they advertised 'em in the back of Rolling Stone. They were only $10 then, too. I love seeing guys pay $100 for vintage ones

you could... but you'd have to run the one in front almost full up volume-wise, and then you'd use the second one to actually control the volume. it'd work like the volume-gain knobs on most OD's.
but alas, there's only one way to find out.
